The Tournament Forum took place last weekend before the Tournament Ball. A number of issues were discussed including the 2019 Calendar and the plan after the successful event at Gosfield to hold a second Combined National Championships next year at Hazelwoods Ski World.
The main announcement however was that for 2019 and the foreseeable future the British Ski League is to be suspended.
The future of the League has been a discussion point for the last couple of years and the reality is that in recent years there have been virtually no League events held and it has become a virtual league with results being drawn primarily from Rankings List events. This reflects a much reduced competitor base compared to the years when there where upwards of 50 League events on the Calendar and the fact that few non Commercial clubs hold Calendar competitions any more.
We are seeing a growth in Interclub and Backyard events that are attracting skiers of all abilities but are not homologated to a standard where the results can be used for The League or British Standings List. For next season we plan to publish a ladder for all these events as long as they meet the basic standard as set out in the British Additional Rules.
The Handicap League will also continue and we will give this more exposure and publicity. And of course the British Standings List will continue.
The suspension of the League has not been an easy decision and has only been reached after a great deal of discussion at the Tournament Committee and TouTech.
Calendar 2019
The provisional Tournament Calendar for 2019 is now available via the Calendar 2019 link at the top of the page. There may still be further changes as we move towards the new season. In particular the World U21 Championships do not yet have confirmed dates or venue.

Congratulations
The four E&A Championships have come to an end with the E&A Open Championships which were held in Greece last week. These in addition to the World Youth Championships in Sesena Spain a while ago. Our Skiers in all age categories have once again done us proud with some great results. Most notable were the U21 Championships in Roquebrune, France where the Team took Gold ahead of France and Italy. Joel Poland took Gold in Jump with Robert Hazelwood picking up the Silver and Joel also took Gold Overall with Robert the Silver. Robert came home with a haul of five medals having the Bronze in both Tricks and Slalom. Amazing results from all our Skiers.

200 Club Update
The August draw for the 200 Club Lottery will take place in the next week or so and we are pleased to announce that we have broken through our 100 Ticket holders target with 104 in the next draw. This means that for every month through the rest of this year we will add £1,820 to our funds after lottery prizes. A big welcome to our new participants and thanks to all of you that make this possible……and good luck in future draws. The monthly prizes are now £780 and for the Double Up month will be £1,560.
This year the Tournament Ball is a week or so earlier than usual to allow some people to attend who will then be zapping off to Chile for the 35+ World Championships at the end of November.
So we have decided that the October draw will be done at the Ball on 17th November for this years Double Up prizes. So if you have been in the 200 Club since the June draw any winnings will be doubled. So please think about coming along. Last year we had a Ball if you will excuse the pun.
